A cold call voicemail that gets a callback is 20 seconds long, names one reason you called that is specific to the prospect, and gives one next step with your number said twice. Below are 7 templates, each in English and French, ordered by how often our own team uses them. They are written to be read as a transcript as much as heard, because that is how most prospects consume them.
No pitch. No "leader in". If you remove the trigger and the message still makes sense, it is not personal enough.
Use when the company posted sales roles. The most common trigger in B2B and the one with the most obvious link to a conversation.
EN: "Hi Sarah, Léa from Sonik. You opened two SDR roles in Paris last week and I wanted to ask how you plan to get them on the phone in their first month. I will try you again Thursday at 4. 06 12 34 56 78, again, 06 12 34 56 78."
Use when someone from the account visited your site. Do not say "I saw you on our website". Say what they would be looking for.
EN: "Hi Marc, this is Léa from Sonik. A few people from your team have been looking at parallel dialing this week, and I wanted to ask how many conversations a day your SDRs get today. I will call back tomorrow at 10. 06 12 34 56 78, 06 12 34 56 78."
Use when a colleague or a mutual contact gave you the name. The strongest template of the seven, because the name does the work.
EN: "Hi Julie, Léa from Sonik. Antoine Martin suggested I call you about the ramp time of your new sales hires. I will try again Thursday afternoon, or you can reach me on 06 12 34 56 78, 06 12 34 56 78."
Use for a contact you spoke to months ago. In our benchmark, calls to a known contact that open with "How have you been?" reach around 10% success against around 1.5% for a standard cold open. Put that familiarity in the message.
EN: "Hi Thomas, Léa from Sonik, we spoke in March about your outbound team. How have you been? Your team has grown since, and I wanted to see how the phone side is going now. I will call Friday at 10. 06 12 34 56 78, again 06 12 34 56 78."
Use in the first 90 days of a new head of sales or marketing. They are building a plan and they take calls.
EN: "Hi Camille, Léa from Sonik. Congratulations on the new role at Acme. Most sales leaders rebuild the outbound motion in their first quarter, and I wanted to ask how you are approaching the phone. I will try you Tuesday at 10. 06 12 34 56 78, 06 12 34 56 78."
Use when your first attempt was silent and the second one hits voicemail. Short, factual, and it sets the next call.
EN: "Hi Sarah, Léa from Sonik again. I tried you Tuesday about the SDR roles you opened. Nothing urgent, one question on how you ramp new reps on the phone. I will try once more Thursday at 4, or 06 12 34 56 78, 06 12 34 56 78."
Use on the last attempt of the cadence. It closes the loop politely and, in our experience, it is the one that gets the most callbacks of the seven, because it removes the pressure.
EN: "Hi Marc, Léa from Sonik. I have tried a few times about your team's conversations per day and I will stop here. If the question of getting more reps on the phone comes back, my number is 06 12 34 56 78, 06 12 34 56 78. Good luck with the quarter."
With a parallel dialer, most of these messages will be dropped automatically when the machine picks up. Three things keep a drop from sounding like one.
Re-record every quarter. Triggers age, and so does your voice when you have said the same sentence 2,000 times.
In Sonik, reps store their recorded messages and pick one per calling session, so a 10am session of founders drops the founder version and a 4pm session of marketing leads drops another. When the dialer hits voicemail, the drop plays and the rep is already on the next live call.

Signals from the CRM decide which template fits: a hiring trigger, a website visit, a job change or a dormant contact each map to one of the seven above, with the context visible to the rep before the dial. See Sonik Signals.
Seven templates, one structure: name, trigger, next step, number twice, in 20 seconds. The trigger is what separates a message that gets read from one that gets deleted. This week, pick the two triggers you see most in your list, record both templates in English and French, and track the connect rate on your second attempt for two weeks.
